New GP hotline

As part of our ongoing commitment to improve our service to GPs we are pleased to announce that from 1/1/10 a dedicated hotline will be available to connect GP and our patient appointments service.

Andrea Jenkins will take the leaf in ensuring that all calls to 01792 479050 are answered promptly and that our service to GPs is what you expect and deserve

GP Referrals

We’re always keen to see where our patients are coming from and a recent review has found that over half of GP referrals to Sancta Maria Hospital originate from five postcode areas in Swansea: SA1, SA2, SA3, SA4 and SA11.

The report, conducted by Pete Day Associates in August, analysed GP referral data over the year staring in July 2008.

GP Practices with the highest levels of referral to Sancta Maria included Sketty and Killey Medical Centre, Mumbles Medical Practice, Gower Medical Practice, Uplands and Mumbles Surgery, St Thomas Surgery and others.

A big thank you to all those GP practices in and around Swansea who continue to support Sancta Maria.

A Great Day of Golf

Sancta Maria Golf Day was held in October, at Machynys Golf and Country Club. A great afternoon of golf was had by all – thanks to the autumn sunshine.

Mr. Jim Manson, consultant surgeon at Sancta Maria, was declared the tournament’s victor, with Dr. Francesca Newman, GP at West Cross surgery and the tournament’s only female competitor, coming a triumphant second.

Sporting rivalries were soon forgotten as competitors enjoyed an evening of dining at Monk’s Bar and Brassiere, overlooking the course.

The afternoon was supported by Sancta Maria consultants and local GP practices including Sketty and Killay surgery, Manselton surgery, West Cross surgery, Llansamlet surgery, and the Grove Medical Centre.
