Biography:

 

Mr. Richard Karoo is a Consultant  Plastic Surgeon who consults in Cosmetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery.

 

Richard's areas of interest include surgical facial rejuvenation (Facelift, Blepheroplasty, Endoscopic Browlift, Rhinoplasty) & non-surgical procedures. His expertise also includes cosmetic breast surgery (Augmentation, Uplift, Reduction), liposuction, abdominal and body contouring procedures.

 

In Richard's NHS practice he is the Clinical Lead for Plastic Reconstructive Head and Neck Surgery at the Welsh Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery. In addition to his aesthetic practice he performs a wide range of reconstructive plastic surgical operations.

 

Having trained extensively in the United Kingdon and Australia, Richard's core specialist registrar training was based in Leeds. He secured the International Microsurgical Fellowship at The Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia, then the Reconstructive Breast Surgery fellowship at St. Andrew's Centre for Plastic Surgery in Chelmsford.

 

To complement his experience, Richard completed his Cosmetic Surgery & Aesthetic Fellowship at the world renowned London Clinic, Harley Street, London. The prestigious appointment equipped Richard with the surgical skills and know how to confidently deal with those patients seeking the highest quality of care for their cosmetic procedure.

 

Richard undertook his scientific research at the Plastic Surgery & Burn Research Unit, Bradford, investigating wound healing models for the production of biological Skin Substitutes. He has co-authored over 50 peer reviewed publications, presented at multiple national and international meetings and been an invited speaker at the Royal College of Surgeons of England Breast Surgery Education Day.

 

Having produced Breast Surgery Information Animation packages for those patients considering Cosmetic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery, commerical sponsorship has now allowed for over 14,000 copies to be made freely available to patients in English & German for world distribution. Richard was also awarded the John Barron Prize by the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons for his work on Breast Reconstruction using new techniques brought over from Europe.

 

Richard holds weekly consultation for a personal review at the Sancta Maria Hospital.
